    Oliver Christian

    Trade Commissioner, Middle East & Pakistan and Consul General Dubai & Northern Emirates, British Embassy

    Oliver was previously Head of the Prime Minister’s Business Unit in Downing Street, serving four Prime Ministers from 2019 to 2023. Oliver was responsible for maintaining a trusted link between the Prime Minister, Whitehall and the boardrooms of UK and international businesses and investors. He oversaw over £78 billion of investment and export deals, establishing the UK Global Investment Summit and the creation of the Office of Investment during his tenure.

    Prior to that he helped establish the Department for International Trade (now the Department for Business and Trade), as the Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State and President of the Board of Trade in 2016. Oliver has 13 years’ experience in Government having worked in trade, investment, business, regulation and security across several Departments and represented the UK in its missions overseas.

    Oliver has a degree from Keele University in International Relations and Philosophy and studied abroad at the University of Toronto.

    Chief Communications Officer at TAQA

    Gareth Wynn serves as TAQA’s Chief Communications Officer, a position he has held since January 2021. In this role, he oversees branding, external and internal communications, government advocacy, stakeholder relations and corporate social responsibility for the Group.

    Gareth has almost three decades of experience as a senior communications leader in international energy organizations. He most recently served as Stakeholder and Communications Director for Offshore Energies UK, the leading representative organization for the UK offshore energy industry. He has also held key senior management positions at EDF Energy and FTI Consulting.

    He holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Microbial Technology with honors from the University of Warwick.

    Chris Wan

    Associate Director, Sustainability and CSR of Masdar City

    A seasoned architect with particular expertise in sustainable design, Chris Wan focuses on advocating for sustainability and ESG at Masdar City and beyond through outreach, public education, and knowledge sharing.

    Chris has worked extensively in sustainability, architecture, and design management in Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi. Previously, he was the head of design management at Masdar, where he promoted a holistic approach to sustainable development that balances environmental, commercial, and social requirements.

    He has made many contributions to Masdar City. His work has led to the construction of multiple developments that explore the boundaries of sustainable design, including a series of net-zero energy buildings.

    He holds bachelor’s degrees in architecture from the University of Bath in the U.K.
